On July 11, 1897, the Gas balloon lifted the eagle from the Danish Island, Spetsbergen, with Salomon August Andrée, Nils Strindberg and Knut Frænkel in the Gondola. Their intention was to geographically chart as much as possible the northern Polar area by flying across the North Pole. A grand idea. Already on July 14, the flight was canceled because of the weather and the real adventure begins, survival in the Arctic. The expedition is illustrated in an exhibition on two floors: the preparations and the expedition. Images and animations from landing and ice hike are shown large monitors along with a large number of objects.
